As mentioned a couple weeks ago, there is increased concern regarding COVID variant implications on our upcoming National Specialty. The PWDCA National Specialty Show Committee has been closely tracking this topic and gathering important input. At a minimum, we will fully comply with State of Virginia guidelines in place at the time of the event. However, out of an abundance of caution and with the full backing of the PWDCA Board of Directors, we have made the important decision to move conformation classes and other select events outdoors. Given this change, over the next couple weeks we will provide detail regarding revised event locations, though the overall schedule of days/dates/times remains largely (perhaps not entirely) unchanged. Details will be posted at, on the PWDCA National Specialty Facebook page, and via the blog (you can sign up for the blog at to get notices directly to your email). Given ongoing travel restrictions, it will be difficult if not impossible for some to attend the National Specialty. This is of course very disappointing, and we want to be as helpful as possible for those who signed up for events and are now precluded from attending. Regarding dog events, you can receive a refund (less transaction fees) up to the date of the event closing. As for people events, you can receive a refund as long as you notify us no later than September 11. Merchandise on order will be shipped, assuming you cover postage costs. Simply reply to this email to inquire about a refund. Please bear with us as we work through the implications of moving particular events outdoors and providing requested refunds. Rest assured, we will have answers to your questions, but in the meantime begin packing sunscreen and rain gear, as you never know what Virginia weather might offer up in late September! We very much look forward to seeing you, and thanks again for working with us on what will be a much anticipated National Specialty.
